ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Grand Valley State softball team split day two at the Lewis Dome Tournament Friday, February 20
th to move to 2-2 on the season. The Lakers mercy ruled Truman State 12-1 in five innings before falling to St. Cloud State 5-3.
vs Truman State – W, 12-1 (5-Innings)
GVSU got off to a fast start scoring six runs in the bottom half of the first inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
Grace Usher opened the scoring with an RBI single to center field to score

Elizabeth Wesoloski notched an RBI to bring home
Madelynn Pope. With the bases loaded,
Camryn Hall hit an infield single to bring home Usher. After a fielder's choice by
Karli Dorr to make it 4-0,
Jasmine Mauk tripled to center field to bring home Dorr and
Kylee Hoebeke.
In the second inning, the Lakers made it 7-0 on an RBI single by Hall that scored Usher. Truman State got on the board with one run in the third inning to bring it back to a six-run game. GVSU answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Faith Edwards doubled to right center that allowed Mauk to score. Next batter, Pope launched a double to center to score Edwards from second. Usher singled to bring home Pope followed by an RBI single by
Allyson Theunick to make it 11-1 and an RBI double by Hoebeke to make it 12-1. The Lakers would record the final six outs to claim the 12-1 mercy rule win after five innings.
Grace Usher batted 2-2 with two runs scored and two RBI's.
Jasmine Mauk went 2-3 at the plate with a triple, two runs batted in, and a run scored.
Camryn Hall also batted 2-3 with two runs batted in and a run scored.
Madelynn Pope notched two hits with a double, two runs scored, and one RBI.
Kylee Hoebeke and
Faith Edwards each added a hit with an RBI and run scored.
Karli Dorr got the start in the circle and earned the win after tossing all five innings allowing just one run off four hits with two strikeouts.
vs St. Cloud State – L, 5-3
St. Cloud State opened the game with four runs in the top half of the first inning. GVSU scored two runs in the fourth inning to cut the deficit in half at 4-2.

Camryn Hall doubled to left center to score
Jasmine Mauk. St. Cloud State would add a run in the fifth inning to make it 5-2. The Lakers would score one run in the seventh inning off an Eiland single to right center.
Eliana Eiland led GVSU going 2-4 at the plate with an RBI and run scored.
Madelynn Pope and Camyrn Hall each notched an RBI double, while
Faith Edwards and
Jasmine Mauk each scored one run.
Nevaeh Ingram got the start in the circle and suffered the loss.
Allison Wright tossed four innings of relief allowing just one run off two hits with three strikeouts.
The Lakers will conclude their opening weekend at the Lewis Dome Tournament tomorrow night against Winona State. First pitch is set for 9:00 PM ET, 8:00 PM CT.
