#5 Lakers Tie Parkside 1-1 Friday

ALLENDALE – The No. 5 Grand Valley State women's soccer team tied Parkside 1-1 Friday (Oct. 9) evening at the GVSU Soccer Field. The Lakers move to 8-1-3 overall and 6-0-2 in the GLIAC.

GVSU scored the opening goal of the game in the 32nd minute off the foot of Sarah Fromm. Sarah Langley played a great ball in the middle of the box to Fromm who made a great run past the defenders and kicked the ball in the bottom right corner of the goal. That goal was Fromm's fourth of the season and extends her goal streak to four straight games. Parkside would tie the game in the second half in the 61st minute. Both teams would create scoring chances in the final 20 minutes but were unable to find the go-ahead goal.

GVSU outshot Parkside 17-6 and 4-2 in shots on goal. The Lakers produced four corner kicks, while the Rangers produced two corner kicks. Fromm scored the lone goal for GVSU and led the Lakers with four shots. Vesna Dennison notched two shots with both being on target. Cora Conley posted two shots with one on frame, while Ava Kozak and Alex Williams added two shots each. Macie Hunter got the start in goal and made one save.

The Lakers will close the weekend at home on Sunday, October 11th when they host first year program Wayne State. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM at the GVSU Soccer Field. The game will be streamed live on FloCollege.
