ALLENDALE, MICH. – The day after picking up their first victory of the season, the GVSU women's golf team earned their second, this time winning the Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite. The Lakers staged a second round comeback to win the tournament, with three individuals earning a spot in the top 10.
Results
The Lakers shot rounds of 291 and 294 to end at nine over par, winning by eight strokes. GVSU ended round one back of the lead by five shots, but quickly made them up, then expanded their lead as round two went on. Findlay and Ferris State were both tied for second at +17. In fourth was Gannon, who scored a +36. Tiffin finished fifth at +52.
Charlotte Goersch was the individual runner-up, carding rounds of 73 (+1) and 69 (-3), ending at two under par. She made seven birdies and the first two eagles of her collegiate career over the two rounds.
June Hsiao and
Rachael Krieger both finished in a tie for third at even par. Hsiao had rounds of 73 and 71 (-1), making two birdies on the day. Krieger sank six birdies across her rounds of 71 and 73.
Evelyn Park shot rounds of 74 (+2) and 78 (+6), making three birdies to end in a tie for 16
th at eight over par.
Lea Stotz finished in a tie for 23
rd at +11. She had five birdies across her rounds of 74 and 81 (+9).
Heida Rafnsdottir had rounds of 79 (+7) and 81 to end in a tie for 34
th at +16. In a tie for 53
rd was
Skyler Tierney, who shot rounds of 82 (+10) and 86 (+14), making three birdies, ending at +24.
Lorena Saquicoray finished in a tie for 60
th at +30, shooting rounds of 86 (+14) and 88 (+16).
