ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Grand Valley State softball team advanced to the GLIAC Championship game after defeating Saginaw Valley State 1-0 Saturday (May 4) afternoon in Rosemont, Illinois. The Lakers improved to 35-14 on the season.
GVSU scored the game winning run in the fourth inning.
Morgan Spicer led off the inning with a walk. Next batter,
Kelsey Komorous hit a double to right field that allowed Spicer to score from first. Komorous drove in her GLIAC leading 55
th RBI of the season.
Genesis Eggart was dominate in the circle for the Lakers tossing her fourth shutout of the season. Eggart tossed all seven innings allowing no runs off just two hits with five strikeouts. She improved to 12-6 in the circle this season and 2-0 in the GLIAC tournament.
Kelsey Komorous led the Lakers with a hit and RBI.
Morgan Spicer walked and scored the game's only run.
MaryJane Goodman and
Eliana Eiland each notched a hit in the win.
The Lakers advanced to the GLIAC championship game which will be tomorrow (May 5) at 12:00 PM ET and wait to see who they play.
