ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Grand Valley State women's soccer team begins the NCAA Tournament with a first-round matchup against UMSL Friday (Nov. 22) morning. Kickoff is set for 10:00 AM CT / 11:00 AM ET in St. Louis, Missouri on the campus of Maryville.

GVSU earned the three seed in the Midwest region with a 12-1-7 overall record. The Lakers enter the 2024 NCAA tournament as the reigning Midwest regional champions. GVSU has made 21 consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 63-12-8. GVSU has won 16 Midwest regional championships and an NCAA Division II record seven national championships.
This season, GVSU has outscored their opponents 28-8, while outshooting their opponents 364-197 and 168-68 shots on goal. The Lakers have had 162 corner kicks, while holding their opponents to 67 corner kicks.
Emma Chudik,
Ryann Fetty, and Allie French lead GVSU with 10 points each on the season. Chudik and French are tied for the team lead along with
Ella Kleiver with four goals each. Fetty has scored three goals and has dished out four assists this year.
Taylor Reid leads GVSU with five assists and has notched seven points.
Goalkeeper
Cailynn Junk was named the GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year and became the third Laker in program history to earn goalkeeper of the year honors. Junk has made 18 starts in goal posting a 10-1-7 record with nine individual shutouts and two combined shutouts.
UMSL enters the NCAA Tournament as the six seed in the Midwest region with a 14-3-3 overall record. The Tritons won the GLVC tournament championship for the first time in program history.
UMSL enters Friday's matchup winning 10 of their last 11 matches, with the one match resulting in a draw. The Tritons have outscored their opponents 43-14 on the season, while outshooting their opponents 327-163 and 154-84 shots on goal.
UMSL is led by Jada Holloman who has scored 10 goals and dished out six assists for 26 points this season. Holloman has scored five game-winning goals and leads the team with 71 shots with 38 on frame. Josie Maddox has notched seven goals and dished out four assists for 18 points on the season. Kayley Judy has added five goals and six assists for 16 points with four game-winning goals.
