ALLENDALE – The No. 17 Grand Valley State women's soccer team plays two GLIAC games this weekend. The Lakers will travel to face Roosevelt in the final road game of the regular season on Friday (Nov. 1) at 1:00 PM before hosting Davenport on Sunday (Nov. 3) at 1:00 PM.
GVSU enters the weekend with a 10-1-3 overall record and 7-1-2 GLIAC mark. GVSU has outscored their opponents 23-5 this season. The Lakers defeated Ferris State 2-0 on the road last weekend.
Taylor Reid scored the game-winning goal, while freshman
Kendall Aikens scored her first collegiate goal late in the second half.
Emma Chudik leads GVSU in scoring this season with four goals and two assists for 10 points.
Ryann Fetty has also notched 10 points on the season with three goals and four assists.
Taylor Reid leads the Lakers with five assists and has added a goal for seven points. Goalkeeper
Cailynn Junk has notched four consecutive shutouts and is up to six on the season. Junk has posted an 8-1-3 record in goal making 30 saves.
Roosevelt enters the weekend with a 0-10-4 overall record and 0-9-2 GLIAC mark. GVSU defeated Roosevelt 2-0 at home in the first matchup of the season between the two programs. Roosevelt fell 3-0 last weekend at Northern Michigan and 2-0 at Michigan Tech.
Davenport enters the weekend with a 6-3-6 record and 4-2-5 record in the GLIAC. The Panthers defeated the Lakers 1-0 in the first matchup of the season at Davenport. The Panthers are coming off a pair of scoreless draws against Ferris State and at Saginaw Valley State.
Davenport is led Haley Diekevers who has scored five goals and dished out two assists for 12 points this season. Diekevers has notched four game-winning goals and has got off 46 shots. Taylor Meadows has scored three goals on the season, while Gabby Scholten leads the Panthers with four assists. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Wolter has started in all 15 games this season posting eight clean sheets, while making 54 saves.
