BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 18 Grand Valley State women's soccer team hits the road for a GLIAC rivalry game at Ferris State Sunday (Oct. 27) at 1:00 PM.
GVSU enters the weekend in second place in the GLIAC standings with a 6-1-2 mark but trail Northern Michigan by one game played. The Lakers are 9-1-3 overall this season. The Lakers swept last weekend's action with a pair of shutouts to take sole control of first place in the conference. GVSU defeated Roosevelt 2-0 before dominating Saginaw Valley State 5-0.
Senior
Emma Chudik leads the Lakers in scoring with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Chudik notched a goal and assist last weekend. Senior
Ryann Fetty has scored three goals and dished out three assists for nine points on the season. Fetty scored one goal and dished out two assists last weekend and has started in all 13 games for GVSU this season.
Sophomore
Ella Kleiver scored both goals for GVSU in the 2-0 win against Roosevelt. Kleiver also dished out an assist in the win over Saginaw Valley State and now is up to seven points this season. Junior goalkeeper
Cailynn Junk posted one individual shutout and one combined shutout last weekend. Junk improved her record in goal to 8-1-3 with five individual shutouts and two combined shutouts.
Ferris State enters Sunday's match with a 6-3-4 overall record and 5-2-2 GLIAC mark. The Bulldogs are in third place in the GLIAC standings, trailing the Lakers by three points. Ferris State tied Davenport 0-0 on Friday.
The Bulldogs are led by Katherine Welch who has scored four goals and dished out five assists for 13 points on the season. Welch also leads Ferris State with two game-winning goals. Haley Buckman has notched four goals on the season for eight points with one game-winning goal. Morgan Fillion has made 10 appearances for nine starts in goal this season with a 5-2-2 record. Fillion has made 38 saves with four shutouts.
