No. 24 Lakers Host Roosevelt and Saginaw Valley State

ALLENDALE – The No. 24 Grand Valley State women's soccer team returns home this weekend to host a pair of GLIAC games. The Lakers will take on Roosevelt on Friday (Oct. 18) at 3:00 PM before hosting Saginaw Valley State on Sunday (Oct. 20) at 2:00 PM.

GVSU is 7-1-3 on the season and are in second place in the GLIAC standings with a 4-1-2 mark. The Lakers have outscored their opponents 14-5 on the season and have produced six clean sheets. GVSU is coming off a 2-0 win at Parkside last weekend to complete the season sweep against the Rangers. 
 
Kennedy Bearden and Emma Chudik lead the Lakers in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points each. Bearden leads the team with two game-winning goals and 25 shots. Ryann Fetty and Sarah Fromm have each notched two goals and one assist for five points. Taylor Reid leads GVSU with three assists on the season. Goalkeeper Cailynn Junk was named the GLIAC defensive player of the week after she earned her fourth shutout in the 2-0 win at Parkside. Junk has made 24 saves this season and has posted a 6-1-3 record in goal. 
 
Roosevelt is in their first season in the GLIAC and are 0-5-2 in the conference and 0-6-4 overall. The Lakers are coming off a scoreless draw at Purdue Northwest and a 3-1 loss at Davenport last weekend. Paola Macias leads Roosevelt with two goals and one assist for five points on the season. Goalkeeper Roxy Herrera leads the GLIAC with 62 saves on the season.
 
Saginaw Valley State enters the weekend with a 4-4-3 overall record and 2-2-3 GLIAC mark. The Lakers and Cardinals played to a scoreless draw earlier this season at Saginaw Valley State. The Cardinals tied both Davenport and Parkside 1-1 last weekend. 
 
Rileigh Garbarz leads the Cardinals with three goals and three assists for nine on the season. Lauryn Fracassi has notched three with one assist for seven points and leads SVSU with two game-winning goals. Goalkeeper Lainey Garbarz has appeared and started in 10 games making 57 saves with five shutouts on the season.
