PREVIEW: No. 22 Lakers Travel to Purdue Northwest and Parkside

ALLENDALE – The No. 22 Grand Valley State women's soccer team is set to travel for their first road trip of GLIAC play. The Lakers are set to play Purdue Northwest on Friday (Sept. 22) at 1:00 PM ET in Hammond, Indiana and then will travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday (Sept. 24) to face Parkside at 1:00 PM ET.

GVSU opened GLIAC play last weekend with a 2-1 win vs Ferris State and 1-1 draw against Saginaw Valley State. The Lakers are now 3-1-2 on the season, 1-0-1 in the GLIAC. Freshman Alli French scored the game-winning goal against Ferris State in the 67th minute for her first collegiate goal. The Lakers outshot the Bulldogs 16-6 and 8-0 on goal. Emma Chudik notched her first goal of the season in the win.
 
In the 1-1 draw against Saginaw Valley State, sophomore Amanda Palmer scored her first career goal as a Laker to tie the game late in the first half. Ryann Fetty and Abby Winn dished out assists on the goal. The Lakers outshot the Cardinals 11-7 and 4-2 on goal and created nine corner kick opportunities. 
 
Purdue Northwest enters the weekend with a 2-3-1 record. This will be the ninth overall meeting between the two programs as the Lakers have won all eight meetings including three last season. The Pride lost their first two GLIAC games last weekend at Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan. 
 
Senior forward Kaci Pampreen leads the Pride offensively with four goals and one assist for nine points this season. Pampreen has notched two game-winning goals and two multi-goal games. Junior forward Emma Carter leads the team with three assists and has scored one goal for five points so far this season. Freshman goalkeeper Meta Fischer has started in all six games in goal making 28 saves and notching two shutouts. 
 
On Sunday, the Lakers will travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin to take on Parkside. The Rangers enter the weekend with a 3-1-1 on the season. Parkside kicked off their GLIAC schedule last weekend with a 1-1 draw at Northern Michigan before falling 1-0 at Michigan Tech. Senior forwards Alexis Baker and Alexis Bolger lead the team with two goals for four points on the season. Sophomore forward has dished out two assists, while sophomore midfielder Emily Mikkelson has notched a goal and assist on the season. Senior goalkeeper Izzy Guyer has made three starts in goal posting a 3-0 record making 15 saves on the season. Senior goalkeeper Mia Guyton has made three starts in goal posting an 0-1-1 record making 17 saves.
