ROSEMONT, Ill.—The Grand Valley State softball team dropped its opening game of the GLIAC Tournament, 2-1, to Parkside at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex on Thursday afternoon.

The Lakers scored their lone run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Megan Koenigshof led off the inning with a double. She advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt from
Kaitlin Lynch.
Joanna Cirrincione hit a sacrifice fly to left field and GVSU scored to make it, 2-1, in the fifth inning.

Parkside took an early lead. The Rangers went up, 1-0, in the top of the first inning on an RBI single from Alex Wooten.

The Rangers would score again in the fourth to lead, 2-0. Kiley Akey doubled to bring in Parkside's second run of the game.

Nevaeh Ingram started in the circle for GVSU and went four innings. She allowed two earned runs, six hits, struck out one batter and walked three.
Ashley Platek came in to pitch the final three innings. She did not allow a hit and struck out two batters.

GVSU turns to an elimination game on Friday. The game is set for a Noon first pitch with the Lakers set to face 5-seed Davenport.
