PREVIEW: No. 20 Lakers Host Parkside and Purdue Northwest this Weekend

ALLENDALE – The No. 20 Grand Valley State women's soccer team is back home this weekend for a pair of GLIAC contests against Parkside and Purdue Northwest. The Lakers will first host Parkside on senior night under the lights on Friday (Oct. 27) at 7:00 PM. On Sunday (Oct. 29), the Lakers will welcome Purdue Northwest at 1:00 PM.

GVSU is coming off of their last road trip of the regular season last weekend. The Lakers tied Saginaw Valley State 2-2 after trailing 2-0 at halftime before defeating Ferris State 2-1. GVSU is now 8-2-5 and in second place in the GLIAC with a 6-1-4 mark. The Lakers improved to 7-0-2 in games on the road this season. 
 
Junior Emma Chudik leads the Lakers in scoring with five goals and ten points. Sophomore Kacy Lauer is second on the team with eight points, scoring three goals and dishing out two assists while starting in all 15 games. Senior Avery Lockwood scored the game winning goal last weekend at Ferris State and now leads the team with two on the season. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Isabel Imes has made ten starts in goal posting a 4-1-4 record making 18 saves. 
 
Parkside enters the weekend with a 5-7-2 overall record and 2-7-2 mark in the GLIAC. The Rangers have dropped their last four contests. The last time the Lakers faced the Rangers was at the end of September in Kenosha. GVSU defeated Parkside 1-0 off a game-winning goal by Chudik later in the second half. The Lakers are now 15-5 all-time against the Rangers.
 
Forward Alexis Baker leads the Rangers in scoring with four goals and eight points including two game-winning goals. Sophomore Emily Mikkelson has notched three goals and dished out one assist for seven points on the season. Senior goalkeeper Mia Guyton has made eight appearances and seven starts for the Rangers in goal. Guyton has notched 60 saves and has posted one individual shutout and one combined shutout. Senior goalkeeper Izzy Guyer has started in five contests posting a 3-1 record making 30 saves with one individual shutout and one combined shutout.
 
Purdue Northwest enters the weekend with a 2-11-2 overall record and 0-10-1 GLIAC mark. The Pride have lost their last seven games and tied Davenport for their lone draw in GLIAC play. The Lakers defeated Purdue Northwest 6-1 in Hammond, Indiana earlier this season. Emma Chudik notched her first career hat trick in the win. GVSU has dominated this series improving to 9-0 all-time against Purdue Northwest.
 
Senior Kaci Pampreen leads the Pride in scoring with four goals and two assists for ten points including two game-winning goals. Junior Emma Carter leads the team with three assists and has notched two goals for seven points this season. Graduate Brinley Hefty has added two goals and two assists for six points and leads the team with 20 shots. Freshman goalkeeper Meta Fischer has made 14 appearances including 13 starts in goal for the Pride. Fischer leads the GLIAC with 69 saves and has posted a 2-9-2 record.
