Jackson Blanchard Wins 110m and 400m Hurdles at Indiana State

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Junior Jackson Blanchard won the men's 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles on Saturday, April 9 in Terre Haute, Ind. Blanchard won the 110m hurdles with a season-best time of 14.54. In the 400m hurdles, Blanchard finished first stopping the clock at 51.29. Blanchard is currently ranked third in the DII nation in the 400m hurdles. 

The Lakers took home 11 top-three finishes at the Pacesetter Sports Invitational on Saturday adding three men onto the qualifying list for Nationals. Freshman Steven Harris ran alongside Blanchard in the 400m hurdles finishing third with a personal-best time of 52.92. Harris' time is the ninth fastest time in school history, Blanchard holds the first fastest time of 50.75 set in 2021. Brandon Miller placed first in the 200m with a season-best time of 21.23, the fifth fastest time in school history. 

Also placing within top-three, Myles Rhodes placed third in the 200m with a time of 21.77. Makiyah Smallwood placed third in the 110m hurldes with a time of 14.54, and Brenden Faulkner placed third in the 800m with a time of 1:56.90. The highlight of the women's sprints and hurdles squad was Brooke Barkocy finishing first in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:02.98. Barkocy's time is less than one second away from qualifying her for Nationals at the end of May. 

Deji'ona Simpson finished second in the 400m with a season-best time of 59.75, she also ran a personal-best time in the 200m (26.67) finishing seventh.  The women's 4x400m team of Isabel Abdouch, Ashley Perryman, Brooke Barkocy, Deji'ona Simpson placed second with a time of 4:04.82. The men's 4x100m relay team of Caelon Harkey, Brandon Miller, Myles Rhodes, and Jalen Kyles finished first with a time of 41.34. 

In the field, Jenna Doyle won the women's high jump clearing a height of 1.65m, followed by Sydney Cangilla in third with a height of 1.60m.   

Natalie Graber led the Lakers' in the 3000m steeplechase finishing second with a time of 10:53.93 at the Flames Invitational. Landyn Howell placed third with a time of 10:58.43.

The men's and women's throw crew will be competing on Monday, April 11 at the Circle Logistics presents the Monday Meet in Fort Wayne, Ind.
