Judith Essemiah won the women's hammer throw on Friday, April 22 with a season-best distance 60.36m at the Al Owens Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State. Essemiah maintains her spot on the national DII leaderboard in third.
Alaina Omonode finished second with a personal-best distance of 52.18m.
The day was cold and rainy for Lakers, but that did not stop
Hunter Harding from throwing a personal-best distance of 65.46m in the hammer throw and moving up to third in DII.
Jacob Urban threw a personal-best distance of 61.31m finishing fourth.
Bobby Maxwell won the men's javelin throw with a distance of 54.65m.
Wyatt Alwine won the men's pole vault clearing a personal-best height of 4.60m.
Day Two of the Al Owens Classic begins at 11:00 a.m. with both the field and track events.
