EAST LANSING, Mich. -
Eli Kosiba and
Jonathan Rankins-James claimed first and second at the Spartan Invitational on Saturday, April 2 in the men's high jump. Kosiba won the event clearing a height of 2.11m, Rankins-James placed second with a height of 2.06m. Kosiba's height moves him up to fourth in the NCAA DII, Rankins-James remains in sixth with a height of 2.10m cleared at the Texas Relays on March 23. The Grand Valley State men's and women's track and field team claimed 33 top-five finishes at Michigan State.Â
Jason Millis and
Jacob DeBoer also placed first and second in the 3000m Steeplechase at Michigan State. Millis clocked in first for the Lakers with a personal-best time of 9:33.91, followed by DeBoer in second with a personal-best time of 9:39.54. Â
Steven Harris won the men's 400m with a time of 54.40. The men's 4x400m relay team of  Brendon Edoff,
Xavier Armand,
Steven Harris,
Ethan Pyeatt placed second with a time of  3:25.12.
Timia Robinson and
Melia Williams secured two top-five finishes in the 100m and 200m. Robinson placed second in the 100m with a personal-best time of 12.81, followed by Williams in fourth (12.89). In the 200m, Williams placed third (26.37) and Robinson fifth with a personal-best time of 26.71. The women's 4x400m relay team placed second stopping the clock at 4:05.13 withÂ

In the field,
Mac Mitchell placed second in triple jump with a distance of 13.78m.
Chanse Setzke finished second in the long jump with a distance of 6.84m.

Max Rauch cleared a height of 4.61m placing third, fourth, fifth in pole vault, respectively.
Jacob Urban threw a personal-best distance of 60.15m in the hammer throw finishing third. In the discus throw,
Nathan Spitzley placed second with a distance of 50.17m,
Myles Kerner placed third (49.27m).Â
Emma Richards led the Lakers in the women's discus placing second with a distance of 48.10m,
Elizabeth Pyles placed fourth (44.56m).
Elli Kimes placed third in pole vault clearing the bar at 4.17m,
Kassidie Stimmel placed fourth clearing 4.02m.Â
The Lakers track and field team will split into three directions next weekend to compete at the Flames Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn. on April 8 -9, Hillsdale Outdoor Invitational in Hillsdale, Mich. on April 8 -9, and the Pacesetter Sports Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. on April 8 -9.Â
