No. 3 women's soccer overpowers No. 7 Central Missouri Sunday

Lakers earn 3-0 win to improve to 4-0 on the season

Warrensburg, Mo. – The No. 3 Grand Valley State Lakers earned a convincing 3-0 win over No. 7 Central Missouri Sunday (Sept. 12) to finish out non-conference play. The Lakers improve to 4-0, including two wins over nationally-ranked opponents, as they begin GLIAC action on the road next weekend.

The Lakers took the lead midway through the first half when Greta DeLoach lofted a cross from the left wing for Taylor Reid to bang home in the middle of the box. Reid, who was born and raised thirty minutes from the UCM campus, scored her first goal of the year after an assist on Friday.

The Lakers added their insurance in the 80' when Cate Brown sent in a corner insert for DeLoach to one-time home. Kennedy Bearden would score a goal in her fourth consecutive game in the 90' for good measure.

The Lakers have another long trip, just the opposite direction, next weekend as they head north to the Upper Peninsula to begin GLIAC play against Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. Visit GVSULakers.com and follow @GVSUSoccer on social media for coverage leading up to, and during, the games.
