Two Greta DeLoach goals improve GVSU to 9-0 on the season

Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. – The No. 1 Grand Valley State Lakers used two quick second-half goals to down the Northwood Timberwolves, 2-0, Friday (Oct. 1) afternoon on the road. The Lakers improve to 9-0 on the season and 5-0 in GLIAC play while posting their eighth shutout of the season.
 
After the Lakers took five of six total shots in the first half but went into the locker room scoreless, the team came out firing in the second half. They rattled off five shots in the first five minutes of the second period, culminating in a goal by Greta DeLoach in the 50' off a corner insert from Cate Brown. Just two minutes later, DeLoach would strike again on an assist from Kennedy Bearden to double the advantage.
 
"Really, really proud of our resiliency today on the road. This was a tough environment against a good team. The way we came out in the second half and executed was outstanding and the young ladies made the right adjustments" head coach Jim Conlon said.

Callie Rich played all 90 minutes in goal and made three saves to preserve the Lakers' eight clean sheet of the season.

The Lakers return home for a top-25 matchup with No. 11 Ferris State on Sunday (Oct. 3) at 1 PM. The game can be seen live on ESPN3 and @GVSUSoccer will provide live Twitter updates.
