GVSU completes Bill Clinger Classic

Final Results

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State track and field teams concluded the Bill Clinger Classic on Friday, Jan. 17.  The inaugural meet was named in honor of the GVSU track and field pioneer coach who debuted the program in 1968. 
 
Freshman Molly McLaughlin made her first statement for the Lakers with a third-place finish in the 600m dash, crossing the line in 1:40.11.  In the 3000m race, Klaudia O'Malley finished in 9:54.66, good for fifth place.  Also showing a strong outing in the track events was Abby Crouch who placed eighth in the 800m run with a time of 2:18.35. 
 
Sophomore Anna Obi took second place in the triple jump with a jump of 11.78m.  The Lakers took the top two spots in the weight throw invite, with Franesha Robinson-Mitchell (19.23m) and Bobbie Goodwin (19.22m) claiming first and second place, respectively.  Former All-American, Elli Kimes, landed a fourth place with a finish of 3.87m in the pole vault.
 
Tyler Kirkwood (8.32 seconds) and Tyler Mansfield (8.55 seconds) placed fourth and sixth in the 60m hurdles on the men's side.  In the 800m run, senior Jacob Domagalski (1:55.40) and junior Alex Sanford (1:56.53) finished fourth and seventh, respectively. 
 
In the field events, Justin Scavarda led the Lakers as he claimed first and second place in the weight throw and shot put invites (20.02m; 17.16m).  Sophomore Mac Mitchell recorded a 13.51m jump in the triple jump while Jacob Battani finished with a 5.06m mark in the pole vault.  Both men took second place in their respective events. 
 
The Lakers return to action next weekend (Jan. 24) with the Hillsdale College Crossover and Gladstein Invitational.
