Twelve Lakers Earn Swimming & Diving Scholar All-America Honors

The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced that a combined 12 Grand Valley State swimming & diving student-athletes were named to the Scholar All-American Team for the 2018-19 season. The award recognizes students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAASwimming and Diving Championships. The selections, drawn from 190 colleges and universities across all Divisions. 

Caroline Brereton (Biomedical Science), Nicole Carlson Biology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology), Lara Deibel (Business Administration), Melina Goebel (Marketing), Celia Hoag (Marketing), Mikayla Karasek (Psychology), Abigail Sauerbrei (Criminal Justice) and Megan Shaughnessy (Exercise Science) earned honors for the Laker women, while JD Ham (Occupational Sadety& Health Management), Jonathan Loshinskie (Allied Health Sciences), Harry Shalamon (Clinical Exercise Science) and Ben Walling (Supply Chain Management) earned honors for the GVSUmen.

In addition, both the Grand Valley State men's and women's swimming & diving teams earned Scholar All-America Team honors for the spring 2019 semester. The GVSUwomen tallied a team GPA of 3.47, while the men recorded a 3.07 GPA.
