ASHLAND, Ohio – The No. 2 Grand Valley State Lakers earned a Top-25 road victory with a 2-0 win over the No. 11 Ashland Eagles Friday (Nov. 1) night at Ferguson Field. GVSU, who moves to 14-1 overall and 7-0 in the GLIAC to sit alone at the top of the conference table, earns an 11
th consecutive shutout; the longest streak of clean sheets in a single season since the 2013 campaign. Ashland falls to 12-2-1 and 6-1 in the GLIAC.
The Lakers had a bevy of chances early before
Sydney O'Donnell would find the back of the net on an unassisted goal in the 23' to break the scoreless tie. That goal would serve as the only tally in the first half. Early in the second,
Jessica Radice saved the lone shot on goal by the Eagles on the night, keeping the Lakers in front. GVSU would get breathing room in the 77' when Greta DeLoach scored on a setup by
Riko Sagara to double the lead and round out what would be the scoring.
GVSU travels to Saginaw Valley State on Sunday (Nov. 3), where a win would clinch at least a share of the GLIAC regular season title and the number one seed in the conference tournament. GVSULakers.com will provide links to live stats and video while @GVSUSoccer provides live Twitter updates.
