ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 3 Grand Valley State Lakers erupted in the second half for a 6-0 win over the Purdue Northwest Pride Sunday (Oct. 13) afternoon at the GVSU Soccer Field. The Lakers improve to 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in GLIAC play.
GVSU took seven shots on goal in the first half, but couldn't crack the back of the net, heading into the halftime break scoreless. They would score in the first minute of the second half when
Riko Sagara after a well-placed pass from
Caitie Baron. A few minutes later,
Ava Cook would draw a penalty and Sagara converted for her second of the day.
In the 71' a
Sydney O'Donnell corner insert would set up
Chantel Carranza for a header finish to add to the lead. Just four minutes later, Carranza would turn provider as she headed a cross from
Darline Radamaker across the front of goal for
Greta Deloach to hammer home. Two minutes later, Radamaker would steal the ball from the Purdue Northwest defense in the box and beat the keeper. Then, in the closing minutes, Sagara feathered a ball through to Deloach, who would rifle a shot into the back of the net to cap off the scoring.
