#7 Lakers Defeat Timberwolves 11-0

Box Score #7 Grand Valley State won its sixth consecutive game via shutout and improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the GLIAC with an 11-0 win over Northwood on Sunday afternoon. The Lakers recorded a season-high 37 shots, while limiting the Timberwolves to three shots for the entire contest.

"We got everybody on our roster a lot of minutes today," said head coach Jeff Hosler. "I am glad we got a lot of our players in because it shows why fresh legs is always an advantage."

The Lakers had eight players record at least one goal and 12 players record at least one points in the contest.
 
The GVSU forwards had an active day as Ava Cook recorded one goal and one assists, while Gabriella Mencotti netted her seventh and eighth goals of the season. Katrina Giantsopoulos recorded two goals to bring her goal total to four on the year and Kristy Gomez also had two goals and an assist. Sara Stevens netted her first goal of the season and Hannah Klingerman assisted on two goals.

 The Laker midfielders also made their way into the scoring column as Tara Lierman recorded two assists, Gianna Parlove recorded three points with a goal and assist. Dani Johnson assisted on Cook's goal and Corey Sawall scored her third goal of the season. Also getting in the scoring column for GVSU were Madz Ham, who recorded her first goal of the season and added an assist. Goalkeeper Paige Pryson played 27 minutes in goal for the Lakers and added her first career point with an assist.

GVSU recorded season-highs in points (31), goals (11) goals and assists (9) versus the Timberwolves.

The #7 Lakers will next be in action in Romeoville, Ill., for a neutral site match contest against  #15 Quincy on Wednesday (Sept. 27) at 1 p.m.
