Grand Valley State senior Danny Abbott (Romeo, Mich.) has been named the GLIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week it was announced by the conference office for his performances versus Lewis and Calvin College last week. GVSU defeated Lewis 139-91 Friday, followed by a 225-74 victory at Calvin on Saturday. GVSU will be in action Saturday (Oct. 29) at Northern Michigan.

Abbott recorded two individual first-place finishes and swam the lead leg in the 200 free relay that touched first versus Lewis. He hit the wall in 21.61 in the 50 free, followed by a 46.98 in the 100 free. Abbott also opened the 200 free relay with a 50 free split of 21.50. He added a first-place finish in the 50 free at Calvin, touching the wall in 21.00, followed by a first-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 45.69. Abbott added a fourth-place finish in the 100 fly (53.25) and anchored the first-place finishing 400 free relay that hit the wall in 3:07.69.
