Men's Tennis Falls at Northwood, 8-1

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team had its six-match conference win streak snapped as the Lakers fell 8-1 at Northwood on Saturday afternoon at the Midland Tennis Center.

Grand Valley State drops to 13-8 on the season and 8-1 in GLIAC play, while No. 35 Northwood improves to 8-4 and 6-0 in conference action. The Lakers now travel to Detroit to play Wayne State on Sunday at 10 a.m.

In doubles competition, the Timberwolves had no trouble grabbing wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. In the third match, Andrew Bole and Ben Esh-Nauta made their counterparts go to an extra set, but eventually fell, 9-7.

In singles action, junior Andrew Darrell picked up the lone point for the Lakers with a 6-2, 5-7, 12-10 victory in the No. 2 singles position.

Northwood picked up wins in all other singles matches in two sets.
