CANTON, Ohio - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team grabbed a 7-2 victory at Walsh on Thursday afternoon to remain undefeated in GLIAC competiton.
The Lakers move to 11-7 on the season and 6-0 in GLIAC play, while Walsh falls to 4-9 and 0-3 in conference.
GVSU grabbed every point in the doubles competition to take an early lead. In the No. 1 spot, Francis Bertrand and Bryan Hodges defeated Pablo Cabezon and Carlos Jaque, 8-6. Andrew Darrell and Michael Kaye picked up a 9-7 victory in the No. 2 position, while Ben Esh-Nauta and Andrew Bole won 8-5 in the third spot.
Bertrand picked up a win in his singles match, 6-4, 7-5, in the No. 1 position. His doubles partner, Hodges defeated Alex Portelance, 6-4, 6-2, in the No. 3 spot. Bole picked up a 6-1, 6-1, victory in the No. 4 position, while Kaye closed up the singles win with a 6-2, 6-2, match against Joshua Gambow in the No. 5 spot.
Grand Valley State continues its road swing at Malone at the Green Tennis Club at 1 p.m. on Friday.
