Lacrosse Downs Adams State, 20-9

ST. CHALRES, Mo. - Led in scoring by four different Lakers, the Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team downed Adams State, 20-9, in a neutral site game on Saturday afternoon at Lindenwood's Hunter Stadium.

GVSU improves to 9-7 on the season heading into its final contest of its first-ever season. The Lakers travel to Ohio to play Notre Dame College on Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m.

Freshmen Victoria Devine (Centereach, N.Y.), Rachel Leibovitz (Naperville, Ill.) and Jordan Luberto (Okemos, Mich.) as well as junior Allyson Fritts (Howell, Mich.) all tallied three goals a piece to lead the Lakers. Redshirt freshmen Meagan Emery (Belmont, Mich.) and Ali Dixon (Farmington Hills, Mich.) and freshman Zoe Stiemann (Grand Rapids, Mich.) had two goals each as well. Devine and Emery also had an assist on the day.

The Lakers had no trouble taking a lead, going on a 5-1 tear to start the first half. Adams State was able to end the streak with a goal from LiErin Wilson, but GVSU then netted five straight to hold a 10-2 advantage with 11:30 left to play in the opening stanza.

Adams State was able to close out the half on a 3-1 run, but GVSU held the 11-5 advantage into the break.

The Lakers never looked back as they pushed their lead to as many as 10 twice in the second half.

For the game, GVSU held a 47-18 shot advantage, while also controlling the draws, 25-6. Freshmen keepers Audrey Kobe (New Hudson, Mich.) and Kelsey LaValley (Howell, Mich.) split time in net, each grabbing three saves. Danica Kristiansen tallied 14 for Adams State.

Heather Jones had a team-high three goals for Adams State while three others tallied two goals each.
