Men's Tennis Falls to Northwood, 8-1

GRANDVILLE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to GLIAC rival Northwood on Wednesday afternoon at the Ramblewood Health Club.

Freshman John McDonald (Farmington, Mich.) was the only one able to get a win for the Lakers.  Facing the Timberwolves' Huga Lasserre, McDonald battled to a 6-3, 1-6, 10-8 victory in the No. 6 spot of singles.

Senior Marc Roesslein (Basel, Switzerland) came close to a win in the No. 3 slot against Marcus Oliveira.  Roesslein picked up a 7-6 (4) win in the first set, before falling 6-1 and 11-9 in the next two.

Grand Valley State now heads to Indianapolis on Friday, Feb. 24 for a 4 p.m. match.  The Lakers will stay in the city to face Drury on Saturday at 1 p.m. before traveling to Greencastle, Ind. to place Carnegie Mellon (8:30 a.m.) and DePauw (12 p.m.) on Sunday, Feb. 26.
