GRANDVILLE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's tennis team picked up an 8-1 win over visiting Tiffin on Friday afternoon at the Ramblewood Tennis Club.
GVSU moves to 8-2 on the year and in the GLIAC, while Tiffin drops to 8-6 on the season and 6-6 in conference action.
The Lakers picked up two points in doubles thanks to wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Sophomore Leah Dancz and senior Allison Fecko won 8-3 in the second slot, while freshman Claire Cooper and sophomore Kali Phillips won 8-2 in No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, GVSU swept through the match thanks to two three-set victories from junior Niki Shipman and Dancz. Shipman defeated Malaika Bora Messi, 6-7 (6), 6-3, 10-7, in the No. 1 position. Dancz picked up her win against Valentina Mazzola, 6-4, 5-7, 10-6, in the second slot.
GVSU hosts Ohio Dominican at 10:45 a.m. at Ramblewood Tennis Club on Saturday before traveling a short distance to Calvin College to face off with Davenport at 3:30 p.m.
