Final Stats

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 15 Grand Valley State women’s tennis team picked up a 7-2 win against visiting Michigan Tech on a chilly Saturday morning at the GVSU Tennis Courts. The Lakers then went on to defeat Davenport, 9-0, in an afternoon match. 

GVSU hosts Hillsdale on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Lakers’ home court.

The wins improve the Lakers’ overall record to 6-1 overall and a 5-1 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

Sophomore Lexi Rice (Augusta, Mich.) is 6-0 in conference play and 8-1 overall including a 4-0 mark in the No. 3 singles position. Rice alongside classmate Niki Shipman (Saline, Mich.) are also undefeated at the No. 3 doubles spot in GLIAC play.

Playing mostly at No. 5 singles, sophomore Anne Marie Morin (Rochester Hills, Mich.) holds a 4-0 mark in conference matches, while going 2-0 with doubles partner junior Allison Fecko (Grand Rapids, Mich.) in the No. 2 spot.
