No. 14 Women's Soccer Downs Lake Erie, 4-0

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The No. 14 Grand Valley State women’s soccer team downed Lake Erie, 4-0, on Friday evening in Painesville, Ohio.  The Lakers now stay on the road to play Ashland on Sunday at 2 p.m.

GVSU improves to 5-0-2 on the season and more importantly remain undefeated in conference action with a 4-0 mark.  Lake Erie falls to 1-7 on the year and 0-5 in the GLIAC.

The Lakers spread out their goals, tallying two in each half with Junior Kayla Addison (Southfield, Mich.) scoring what would be the game-winning goal at 20:38.  Addison took a pass from classmate Ashley Botts (Beloit, Wisc.) to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead.

In the 32nd minute, junior Alyssa Mira (Livonia, Mich.) found Botts in the perfect spot for the second goal of he game. Botts, the reigning GLIAC Athlete of the Week, has now scored a goal in the last four games.

The Lakers added to their lead in the second half with junior Maria Brown (Columbus, Ohio) scoring in the 57th minute and senior Jessica Trost (Canton, Mich.) adding the final goal with just over two minutes in the game.

Junior Chelsea Parise (Warren, Mich.) grabbed two saves, while Lake Erie’s Megan Baldacci tallied 10.  Parise shared time with sophomore Abbey Miller (Saginaw, Mich) who saw time between the pipes in GVSU’s fourth shutout of the season.
