Final Stats

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women’s tennis team swept visiting Lake Superior State, 9-0, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match on Friday afternoon at the GVSU Tennis Courts.

The win moves the Lakers to 4-1 on the season and in GLIAC play, who returned to conference play after participating in the ITA Regional and River Forest Invitational last weekend.  LSSU drops to 7-3 on the year including a 2-3 mark in conference action.

It was a battle to sweep the singles matches as Lake Superior State won several games, but GVSU won out in all but one set.  Sophomore Lexi Rice (Augusta, Mich.) continued her strong play in the No. 3 spot, winning 6-4, 6-2, over Tess Marton.   She is now 6-1 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. 

Senior Alyssa Lucas (Clarkston, Mich.) is also undefeated in GLIAC matches, holding a 4-0 recording, which includes a 6-2, 7-6, win over Kaitlynn Hutchinson in the No. 4 spot.

GVSU picks up with a conference match against Michigan Tech on Saturday at 10 a.m. before playing Davenport at 2:30 p.m. at the GVSU Tennis Courts.
