The Grand Valley State men's tennis team split a pair of matches in Florida. The Lakers claimed a 7-2 win over Walsh, but dropped a 7-0 decision to DI foe Presbyterian College. GVSU, now 2-5 on the year, will play Rockhurst Wednesday.
The Lakers claimed wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, then won five of six singles matches versus Walsh. Marc Roesslein lost the first set 6-1, but regrouped and claimed 6-3, 6-4 wins in the second and third sets to claim the win. Phillip Claus won in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) at No. 2 singles, followed by a tight three-set affair at No. 3 singles. Andrew Darrell won the first set 6-1, but dropped the second set 7-6 in a tie breaker. Darrell claimed the win with a 6-3 win in the third set. Bryan Hodges claimed a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles and Trey Keating won a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 6 singles.
