Final Stats

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's tennis team fell to Northwood, 5-2, in the GLIAC Championship match on Sunday morning at the Midland Community Tennis Center.

GVSU finishes the season 13-3 overall, while Northwood remained undefeated at 15-0.

A repeat of the regular season when the Lakers lost 5-4 to Northwood, the Timberwolves took an early advantage picking up all three doubles points.

In singles play, freshman Leah Dancz (Hudsonville, Mich.) battled to a 6-3, 7-5 win at the No. 3 position over Svenja Stephan, while sophomore Anne Marie Morin (Rochester Hills, Mich.) dropped her first set, 3-6, but battled back for two straight-set wins, 6-0, 6-0, over Margarita Asatryan for a win in the No. 6 spot.

Despite being ahead in the other matches, a 6-2, 6-2 win over for Tara Hayes (Shelby Township, Mich.) at the No. 2 position gave Northwood the GLIAC title.
