Midland, Mich. - The Grand Valley State's women's tennis team defeated Northwood, 5-4, on Tuesday (Sept. 28) evening in Midland, Mich. The Lakers snapped Northwood's 70-match Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) win streak with the victory. GVSU's win in 2002 over Northwood was the Timberwolves last conference loss prior to today. Grand Valley State jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles action and then claimed wins at No. 3 (Chelsea Johnston) singles and No. 6 (Katelyn Schaffer) singles to seal the win. The Lakers (6-0 overall, 6-0 GLIAC) will host Ferris State on Friday Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m. in Allendale, Mich.
