Lakers Sweep Saginaw Valley State 3-0 In GLIAC Volleyball action

Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State claimed a 3-0 victory over Saginaw Valley State in GLIAC volleyball action at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena Saturday afternoon. The Lakers claimed a 26-24, 25-23, 25-22 win over the Cardinals to improve to 9-6 overall and 5-2 in GLIAC action. The Lakers will return to action next Friday (Oct. 2) at Hillsdale College.

GVSU used a balanced attack en route to the victory over the Cardinals. The Lakers hit .178 in the opening set, followed by a .405 attack percentage in set two and a .300 hitting percentage in set three. Whitney Tremain hit .452 with 15 kills and just one error, while Rebeccah Rapin hit .448 with 15 kills and just two errors. Krysta Kornack added six kills and Nocole Whiddon four for the Lakers. Janelle Beaudry led the defense with 19 digs, while Katey Crichton added 11 digs. Megan Scanlon dished out 23 assists and Olivia Kohler added 12 assists. The Lakers hit .286 for the match with 44 kills and 11 total blocks.
