#4 Lakers Notched Four Second Half Goals Defeating #25 Indianapolis 4-1

Fort Wayne, Ind. - Grand Valley State defeated the Greyhounds of Indianapolis on Wednesday (Sept. 23) evening in a non-conference match-up. Freshman Ashley Botts notched two goals in the game to give the Lakers a 4-1 win. GVSU will return to conference play Friday (Sept. 25) at 5:00 p.m. when the Oilers of Findlay visit Allendale, Mich.

After a scoreless first half Wednesday evening, midfielder Kristen Eible scored her third goal of the season after she headed the ball through the back of the net off of a corner kick from sophomore Erin Mruz during the 63rd minute. Mruz recorded her sixth assist on the year. Less than a minute later at 64:29, Grand Valley State added its second goal of the night when freshman forward Kayla Addison found Botts where she knocked it in from three yards out, giving GVSU the 2-0 lead. Botts added her second goal of the match when she took a cross from senior forward Irie Dennis during the 74th minute. Botts leads the team with seven goals on the year. GVSU added its fourth goal of the match at 85:41 when freshman Erin Hilbert took a shot from 25 yards out putting it over the keeper's head into the upper right corner giving the Lakers a 4-1 win.

GVSU dominated offensively, outshoting Indianapolis by a 24-6 margin, including an 11-3 edge in shots on goal. Grand Valley State advances its record to 7-0-1 on the season while Indianapolis falls to 7-2.
