The #9 Lakers faced #6 Columbus State Friday (Aug. 28) afternoon, in Tampa, Fla. After 90 minutes of play the contest ended in a 0-0 tie. The last time GVSU had a scoreless tie was Oct. 15, 2006, at SIU-Edwardsville. 

Grand Valley State led in shots (17-4) and in corner kicks (6-2). Freshmen Kayla Addison and Ashley Botts each took three shots, Lindsey Zahn recorded one and Erin Hilbert had one shot on goal, in their first outing as a Laker. Seniors Irie Dennis and Katie Johnson each recorded a shot on goal. Chelsea Parise recorded her first career shutout in a Laker uniform. Parise played all 90 minutes and recorded one save. 

GVSU is back in action on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 10:00 a.m. against #24 Tampa.
