Lakers Respond with 6-3 Win Over Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS - One day after dropping a hard-fought match to Bellarmine, the Grand Valley State men's tennis team responded with a 6-3 win over Indianapolis. The Lakers took five points from singles play to even their record at 1-1.

Jeff Globerson and Alex Switzer teamed up to pick up GVSU's only point in doubles competition, winning in the second spot by a score of 8-4. Tony Dang and Marc Roesslein dropped an 8-6 match at first doubles and Pat Snyder and Michael Coupek fell 8-5 in third doubles.

Dang fell 4-6 in the first set of No. 1 singles, but responded with back-to-back 6-4 wins to earn the point. Roesslein dominated 6-0, 6-2 in a second singles win, while Claus and Brock Plangger picked up three-set wins in third and fourth singles, respectively. Coupek's 6-3, 6-2 win at sixth singles closed out the points for Grand Valley State.

Plangger has posted a 2-0 overall record on the season, with wins at fourth and fifth singles. Globerson and Switzer's record in doubles play also stands at 2-0 overall. In dual meets, the Lakers have not lost a match at third or sixth singles.
