Grand Valley State lost 70-57 to Findlay on Saturday night (Dec. 12) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. The Lakers fall to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in GLIAC action, while Findlay improves to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in GLIAC action. GVSU will remain on the road with a 7:00 p.m. tilt Saturday, Dec. 19 at Hillsdale College.
The Lakers were ahead at halftime 25-24, but could not hold on. Justin Ringler led Grand Valley State with a double-double. He recorded 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Toreau Brown was also in double figures with 12 points. He was 6-of-14 from the floor in 32 minutes of play. Nick Carreri and Alvin Storrs both notched nine points for the Lakers off the bench.
Grand Valley State shot 41.7 percent from the floor and knocked in 12 of its 15 attempts from the free throw line for 70.6 percent. GVSU outrebounded the Oilers by a 33-24 edge, including a 15-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Eight Lakers scored and the GVSU bench outscored Findlay's reserves by a 20-18 margin. Grand Valley State led in points in the paint, 30-24.
