Defensive Back Brandon Carr Selected By Kansas City Chiefs In Fifth Round Of NFL Draft

Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State defensive back Brandon Carr was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the National Football League draft Sunday afternoon. Carr was the fifth pick in the fifth round (140th overall). Brandon is the first Grand Valley State football player to be drafted since DT Keyonta Marshall was drafted on the second day of the 2005 draft. WR David Kircus was also drafted on day two in 2003.

Carr was a D2Football.com First-Team All-American and earned Second-Team All-American by both Daktronics and the Associated Press in 2007. Brandon was tabbed the 2007 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Defensive Back of the Year and a First-Team All-GLIAC selection. Brandon tallied 45 total tackles, picked off two passes and led the squad in pass deflections with 13 in 2007. Carr ended his career with 50 career pass deflections (11 INTs/39 pass deflections), the sixth-best total in DII football history. The Grand Valley State senior class finished 50-4 during their careers with two NCAA DII National Championships and three GLIAC titles.
