#2 ranked and undefeated Grand Valley State kept its record perfect Saturday afternoon in Detroit with a 75-55 victory over Wayne State. GVSU upped its record to 28-0 overall and 16-0 in GLIAC action. The Lakers will host Northwood Thursday, Feb. 21 in the final regular season home game.
The Lakers led 11-8 with 11:02 left in the first half when senior center Callistus Eziukwu tallied a conventional three-point play to ignite an 8-0 run. Senior guard Joel Whymer hit a long three and Eziukwu scored in the paint to give GVSU a 19-8 lead. Junior guard Pete Trammell drilled a three-pointer with 4:50 left in the opening half to give the Lakers their largest lead of the half, 27-12. Wayne State cut the Laker lead down to eight (30-22), but Trammell hit a short jumper to give the Lakers a 32-22 lead after 20 minutes of action.
GVSU led by 39-28 when sophomore guard David Thompson hit a three-pointer to start a 10-0 run. Senior forward Nick Freer scored on a dunk, followed by a jumper from Trammell and then a three-pointer from Jason Jamerson to give GVSU a 49-28 lead. GVSU eventually built a 23-point (73-50) on a three-pointer by Tom Fellows.
Grand Valley State shot 56.0 percent from the floor, while Wayne State managed to hit just 36.2 percent. The Lakers also held a 39-28 rebounding advantage and dished out 21 assists on 28 made baskets. The Lakers also hit 56.3 percent from three-point land (9-16). GVSU outscored Wayne State 36-18 in the paint.
Callistus Eziukwu notched his 10 double-double in the last 11 games with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Eziukwu has 11 straight 10-plus rebounding games. Junior forward Pete Trammell scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down six rebounds, while Nick Freer added 10 points and four rebounds. L.J. Kilgore and Jason Jamerson each dished out five assists.

Wesley leads all active coaches in the NCAA ranks with an .842 winning percentage. GVSU is 84-9 since the 2005-06 season overall, including a 47-5 record in GLIAC action. Grand Valley State is 58-4 at home under Wesley, including a current school-record 26-game home court winning streak.
