GVSU Falls To #1 Findlay, 68-47

Allendale, Mich. - #1 Ranked Findlay claimed a 68-47 victory over #11 Grand Valley State Saturday afternoon at GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers fall to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in GLIAC action, while Findlay improves to 6-0 overall andf 3-0 in GLIAC action. Grand Valley State will next be in action Saturday, Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. versus Hillsdale at home.

Findlay built a 33-18 halftime lead on the strength of 13-2 run to close the first half. Sophomore forward Toreau Brown hit a jumper in the paint to pull the Lakers within four points (20-16), but Findlay scored 13 straight points over the next 4:10 to build a 33-16 lead. Brown hit a jumper with three ticks left in first half to end the Findlay run. GVSU never threatened in the second half and trailed by as many as 25 points.

Sophomore guard Justin Ringler led the Lakers with 19 points, while sophomore forward Toreau Brown added 12 points off the bench. Senior forward Pete Trammell scored 10 points, but played just 21 minutes because of foul trouble. Findlay outrebounded GVSU 31-28 and scored 24 points off 21 GVSU turnovers. Finlday also connected on seven three-pointers, while the Lakers converted just 1-of-5 treys.
