Katy Tafler and Ashley Elsass both scored two goals as #1 Grand Valley State cruised to a 9-0 win over Southern Indiana. Kristen Eible added the game-winner to move the Lakers to 7-0 on the season.
Eible started the scoring just 15:54 into the match with her goal off of a feed from Tafler. Less than two minutes later, Tafler scored a goal of her own when she took a pass from Katie Johnson and put it in the back of the net. Elsass scored her first goal of the game just 49 seconds after Tafler's goal to make the score 3-0 in favor of Grand Valley. The Lakers' first three goals all came within the first 18:34 of the match.
Tafler scored her second goal of the game at the 37:57 mark when she took a pass from Jamie Radley and made it count to advance Grand Valley's lead to 4-0. Meaghan Robinson scored the Lakers' fifth goal at the 49:50 mark, giving the Lakers a 5-0 lead. Elsass extended the lead to 6-0 on her second goal of the game with an assist from Tafler at the 51:11 mark.
The seventh goal of the match came from Irie Dennis, unassisted. Gretchen Schatz and Jaleen Dingledine scored the last two goals of the match, with assists from Colleen Hillgard and Natalja Stanski, respectively. The goals were Schatz's and Dingledine's first collegiate goals.
The Lakers are now 7-0 on the season and will take the field again on Tuesday, Sept. 25 when they take on St. Joseph's (Ind.) at 4 p.m.
