Allendale, Mich. - After back-to-back 1-0 wins, the second-ranked Grand Valley State Lakers broke out offensively, scoring three goals against the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The defense was just as good as ever, though, and one goal would have been enough once again. The Laker defense limited the Tritons to just two shots, none on goal, while GVSU got goals from three different players en route to a 3-0 victory.

The blue, black and white pressed the attack from the beginning of the match, and freshman Kristen Eible almost tallied the first marker of the game just 4:52 in, when her header attempt went off the crossbar. Triton goalkeepers Mary Behrmann and Courtney Carmody was busy all day, as GVSU outshot UMSL 24-2. Eible took the first four shots of the game for the Lakers and put three of them on frame. Sophomore Irie Dennis put a shot on goal at the 20:10 mark and another at 21:56, but Behrmann snagged both of them.

Dennis put the Lakers ahead for good at the 33:59 feed when she took a feed from Joyce Rose and came in on the left side against Behrmann and beat her with a low shot. The goal was her first of the season and would send GVSU into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.

Eible started the second half the same way she started the first, hitting the crossbar on a one-touch shot after a beautiful centering feed from the right side. Eible would finally find the back of the net at the 63:36 mark when a shot from about 12 yards out on the left side beat Carmody to the lower right-hand corner. Colleen Hillgard closed out the scoring with a header off of a loose ball with just 11:31 remaining in the match.

Eible finished the game with seven shots, four of them on goal, and one goal. Dennis put all four of her shots on frame, and Jamie Radley took three shots of her own. Emily Berner received a yellow card at the 75:48 mark after a hard tackle.

The Lakers are now 3-0 on the season and take the field again on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. The SIU-Edwardsville Cougars will be in Allendale to test GVSU.
