Lakers Drop Doubleheader At Gannon, 1-0, 9-0

Grand Valley State dropped at GLIAC doubleheader at Gannon on Friday. Gannon won game one, 1-0 and game two, 9-0 in five innings. The Lakers fall to 28-11 overall and 12-4 in GLIAC play, while Gannon improves to 31-11 and 11-5. GVSU will travel to Mercyhurst on Saturday, April 28 for another GLIAC doubleheader beginning at noon.

Gannon hit a two out home run in the bottom of the first inning to score game one's lone run. GVSU tallied six hits in the game to Gannon's two, but the Lakers left seven stranded on base.

Sophomore Lori Andjelich (13-4) suffered the loss, giving up just two hits and one run in six innings of action. She also walked one and struck out one batter in the game.

Gannon jumped out to an early lead in game two, scoring three runs on two hits and two Laker errors in the first inning. The Golden Knights added two its lead, posting two more runs on three hits in the top of the second inning. Four more runs on five hits and one GVSU error closed out the 9-0 shutout for Gannon.

GVSU tallied just four hits and added five errors in the second game. Gannon posted nine runs on 11 hits. Junior Stephanie Cole (13-4) recorded the loss, allowing six hits, three earned runs, and two walks in two innings of play. Freshman Lauren Rohan threw two innings as well, giving up five hits and three runs, all of which were unearned. Freshman Lindsey Pierzynski pitched the final inning and walked two batters and struck out one,
