The GVSU men's tennis team recorded its first victory of the spring season with a 7-2 defeat of Indianapolis on Friday. With the win, the Lakers improve to 2-1 on the young season. Grand Valley will see action against Rockhurst on Saturday in a dual match in Indiapolis.
GVSU swept Indy in doubles play by taking all three matches. Adam Sandusky and Tony Dang teamed up for an 8-6 victory in No. 1 doubles. The team of Justin Sauerbrey and Patrick Troy came through with an 8-6 win over their opponents. Rounding out the doubles victories for GVSU was Alex Switzer and Matt Globerson, who also defeated their opponents by an 8-6 count.
The Lakers were able to take four of six singles matches from the Greyhounds. Tony Dang improved his record to 3-0 in dual matches with a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 singles slot. Patrick Troy recorded an impressive 6-2, 6-1 victory in No. 3 singles. Matt Globerson and Alex Switzer also downed their opponents in straight sets in the fifth and sixth singles slots.
