Lakers Sweep Michigan, Win 13th Straight

#2 Grand Valley State won its 13th straight match, defeating Michigan Tech, 3-0 (30-22, 30-27, 30-27) Saturday afternoon. GVSU improves to 13-1 overall and remains undefeated in the GLIAC with a 6-0 record. The Lakers will conclude their five-match road trip at Lake Superior State on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1:00 p.m.

Grand Valley State opened up the match with a 30-22 win in game one and went on to win both games two and three by a 30-27 score. Neither team hit well, but the Lakers tallied eight service aces in the match compared to zero by the Huskies.

Sophomore Danielle Alexander led the way for GVSU with a team-high 12 kills, two digs and a solo block. Sophomore setter Jamie Ashmore recorded nine kills, nine digs, and 40 assists, while senior Megan Helsen added eight kills and 16 digs. Senior Meghan Moore posted nine kills and one solo and two assisted blocks. Junior Alyson Riley had 24 digs and four service aces.
