#5 Lakers Post 4-0 Win At Concord

Concord, W.Va. - The #5 ranked GVSU Women's Soccer Team improved to a perfect 6-0 on the season with a 4-0 win on Sunday at Concord (W.Va.). Sophomore Katy Tafler has now scored two or more goals in six consecutive matches. Senior Shannon Carrier tallied three assists in the win for the Lakers. GVSU will now travel to Morehead State (Ky.) on Sunday, Sept. 17.

Senior Erica Rose gave the Lakers a quick 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest with a goal after a pass from Carrier. Tafler made it a 2-0 contest at the 27 minute mark to close out the scoring in the first half. The sophomore forward opened up the second half with a goal at the 48 minute mark on a pass from Carrier to give GVSU a 3-0 lead that it would hold onto. Sophomore Meaghan Robinson wrapped up the scoring with a goal at the 59 minute mark to provide the final margin. Carrier and freshman Katie Johnson assisted on Robinson's goal.

The Lakers fired off 20 shots in the second half after tallying just eight in the opening stanza. Kristina Nasturzio and Erin Murphy combined on the sixth straight shutout for the Lakers. Nasturzio turned away two shots, while Murphy made one save. GVSU has now outscored its opponents 41-0 on the season.

Grand Valley will travel to Morehead, Ky. on Sunday, Sept. 17 to face off against the Eagles of Morehead State at 1 pm.
