Allendale, Mich. - Three Lakers scored in double figures to lead GVSU to a 57-38 win over visiting Lewis, Saturday evening in Allendale. Grand Valley State improves to 7-2 on the season, while Lewis falls to 5-4. GVSU will host Rochester College on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 7 pm in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena in its last game before the Christmas break.

GVSU opened the contest on a 9-2 run and never looked back en route to its fifth non-conference win of the season. Lewis would keep it close as they cut the Laker lead to three (11-8) before GVSU went on another run, this time of the 10-0 variety, lengthening its lead to 13 (21-8). The Lakers took a 14 point lead into the break as they tallied 16 of their 27 first half points in the paint.

GVSU continued to apply pressure in the second half and led by as many as 22 points before closing out the game by a 57-38 margin. Senior guard Kyle Carhart led all scorers with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and six rebounds. Fellow senior Dan Redder scored 12 points and pulled down four rebounds on the night. Leading scorer, Jason Jamerson, scored 13 points and tied Mike Hall with a game-high seven rebounds.
