#1 Grand Valley State extended its winning streak to 18 straight matches with a 3-0 (30-24, 30-17, 30-26) win over Wayne State Friday night in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers improve to 18-1 overall and 11-0 in the GLIAC, while Wayne State falls to 1-15 and 1-10. GVSU will host undfeated #9 Hillsdale in a key GLIAC matchup on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 4:00 p.m.
Grand Valley State tallied 17 kills in game one, picking up a 30-24 win. The Lakers posted 18 kills and a .389 hitting percentage in their 30-17 game two victory. GVSU continue to hit well with a .318 attack percentage in its game three win (30-26).
The Lakers hit .294 on the match, while the Warriors hit just .161. GVSU tallied nine service aces to WSU's three.
Senior outside hitter Megan Helsen recorded a team-high 15 kills, two aces, and 10 digs and senior middle blocker Meghan Moore added 14 kills, five digs, two assisted blocks, while hitting .400. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Reber had 10 kills, three aces, four digs, and hit .500 in the match, while junior middle blocker Erica Vandekopple had six kills, three digs, and two assisted blocks. Sophomore middle blocker Danielle Alexander posted five kills, two aces, two digs, and two assisted blocks. Junior libero Alyson Riley recorded 15 digs and sophomore setter Jamie Ashmore added 45 assists and seven digs.
