Grand Valley State won its fifth straight match, defeating Findlay, 9-0 on Friday afternoon. The Lakers improve to 7-1 overall and 7-1 in GLIAC play. GVSU will conclude regular season play on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Wayne State at 10:00 a.m.
Grand Valley swept all three double matches and claimed all six singles matches en route to the 9-0 shutout. Junior Emily Zellner and sophomore Lindsay Grimmer defeated Devin Games and Lana Pahl, 8-1 at #1 doubles, while freshman McCall Monte and Audrey Koopsen won, 8-0, over Elizabeth Blosser and Jenna Lemle in the #2 doubles slot. At #3 doubles, sophomore Jaime Oppenlander and junior Jenna Killips knocked off Pamela Bullock and Courtney Kahl, 8-1.
Lindsay Grimmer claimed a 6-1, 7-5 win over Devin Games at #1 singles and Jenna Killips defeated Elizabeth Blosser, 6-1, 6-0 in the #2 singles slot. At #3 singles, Emily Zellner shutout Lana Pahl, 6-0, 6-0. McCall Monte took down Jenna Lemle, 6-1, 6-0 in #4 singles and Jaime Oppenlander beat Pamela Bullock, 6-1, 6-0. At #6 singles, Whitney Bindus beat Courtney Kahl, 6-0, 6-1. Bindus increased her winning streak to six straight wins.
